Back Pain Treated at the Abiding Spirit Center

PictureCupping for back pain
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people see a health care provider. It has been estimated that up to 80% of the world's population will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. The lower back is the most common location of pain, though people can experience pain and inflammation anywhere in the back. Although most episodes last less than two weeks, research has shown that recurrence rates for back pain can reach as high as 50% in the first few months following an initial episode. Many people become chronic sufferers of back pain. This condition can strongly impact activities of every day life, and can inhibit one's ability to function.

While there is no definitive way to resolve back pain, the use of acupuncture to treat this condition has increased dramatically in the past few decades, recent studies provide proof that acupuncture is a safe and effective procedure for back pain, and that it can maintain positive outcomes for long periods of time without producing the negative side-effects that often accompany more traditional pain remedies.

In addition to acupuncture, back pain can often be treated with other modalities such as cupping, moxibustion and herbal formulas. An experienced practitioner will choose the most effective means to treat each person and bring them to better health.
