I have been a student at the dojo for just over 5 years. In this time, I have grown as a person, thanks to my teachers and fellow students. cherish the sense of community in the dojo, where people invest in each other's development. Training has not always been easy, but it has always been valuable. I like the emphasis on etiquette and tradition and the various opportunities available to train oneself off the mat as well. I've become more aware, calmer and more physically fit due to my training here.

I have undergone several sessions of acupuncture treatment at Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Although I am in generally good health, I have experienced increased energy levels and muscular relaxation after each treatment. Most importantly, my chronic sciatic pain has greatly reduced. Regular treatment keeps me fit and able to be much more active.

I have cancer, and have been going through chemotherapy. I have been receiving acupuncture treatments to help me get through the chemo, and it's definitely helping. I don't have the nausea or fatigue that I thought I'd be dealing with. Also, the acupuncture helps keep my blood counts in a good range, which allows me to receive my chemo on a regular basis. With the help of acupuncture at the Abiding Spirit Center, I'm going to beat this!

Before having acupuncture treatments I never thought it would be possible for me to be still for any period of time and just relax, and to be calm in my mind. Now, thanks to acupuncture treatments, I am able to let a lot of that stress go and deal with the difficulties in my daily life in a much more positive fashion.

My husband and I have been involved in activities at the Abiding Spirit Center for some time now.
We have been receiving acupuncture treatments for a variety of ailments for the last couple of years, not the least of which is my COPD, with a great deal of success. On some occasions results were felt within half an hour. Dealing with COPD can be devastating but with the combination of acupuncture, cupping and herbs I have done so well that my pulmonologist is extremely pleased.
My husband does Aikido training at the Center. Aikido is very physical and challenging but also builds confidence and spirituality.
Our association with the Center has truly been a godsend for us and a blessing in our lives.

I’ve been involved in various activities at the Abiding Spirit Center.
Aikido, Acupuncture, Yoga and Meditation have all had profoundly positive effects on my overall well-being. I’ve experienced better physical health, learned self-defense, increased range of motion, and feel a heightened sense of self. I highly recommend the programs because of the expertise and care given by all the Center staff and instructors.

I severely injured my shoulder and went through a very complicated surgery. The doctor said it would take a year to heal, and, due to the extent of the damage, I would never regain full range of motion. I started acupuncture treatments very soon after the surgery and experienced great relief from pain and accelerated healing. My doctor was surprised at how fast I improved. Now, after half the time my doctor had told me it would take, I am back to my regular activities feeling better than ever and with almost 100% range of motion and absolutely no pain.

When I first came to the dojo, three years ago, my plan was to learn Aikido and Iaido. Something different enough to
break up my weekly routine. But after learning my first Iaido technique - Koranto- I realized this was much more than just a place to go every week and train. Over the past three years I have been able to improve my coordination, concentration, training and watching the other students grow each week. and my understanding of the Japanese culture.
I truly enjoy the challenge of learning new techniques. The sensei are excellent, patience and understanding. We're not just another dojo, we're family.

I've been training at this dojo for almost 6 years now, and the instructors and fellow students have become like family. For me, my mom wanted me to take martial arts before I went away for college, and what I gained has impacted my life in so many ways. I'm healthier, more thoughtful, and a happier person in general. If I'm having a bad day, I leave the dojo feeling uplifted.
The amount of patience, genuine care, and investment the instructors put into all their students, have put into me
personally, is humbling. And you won"t get this much personal attention from such experienced instructors most other places you go. Training is always a challenge (always!) but I think that's what makes it so fun and rewarding. And I gotta say...we all have pretty great senses of humor too! Thanks for everything,

I have been bothered by insomnia for years, and have had to go through my days exhausted, physically and mentally. I tried all sorts of things, but nothing helped. I didn’t want to take sleeping drugs. I decided to try acupuncture, and, after just a few treatments, my sleep improved and now I can hardly believe I ever had trouble sleeping! My quality of life, in many ways, is much better now. "
